Julian Alvarez is preparing to ask Manchester City to leave the club in the summer, according to TV El Chiringuito.
Pep Guardiola’s side have recently looked to sign the 23-year-old striker to a new deal, but with little guarantee of regular opening minutes ahead of Erling Haaland – who has scored 33 goals in all competitions this season – it looks as though Alvarez is now open to possible exits.
With the Argentinian already postponing a bid to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium over a salary issue, as Fabrizio Romano has pointed out, the Premier League champions appear to have a hard time convincing him amid interest from Europe.
TyC Sports journalist Cesar Luis Merlo reported on Sunday that Barcelona, among other clubs across Europe, had inquired about his services and more interest could arise the longer the contract stalemate continued.
Alvarez has made 19 Premier League appearances this season, but with the majority coming from the bench he has racked up just 707 minutes of play.
