- Some poked fun at Paul while others criticized Fury’s post-fight celebrations.
Tommy Fury’s split decision victory over YouTuber Jake Paul on Sunday night saw social media fuming, mocking and celebrating the Englishman’s victory.
The pair settled their long-standing grudge against each other in Saudi Arabia, as Fury got the better of his American counterpart to maintain his status as one of the sport’s brightest young talents.
Fury was knocked down by Paul in the prizefight, but recovered to beat his opponent on the scorecards, landing more strikes and being the more impressive competitor throughout the eight rounds.
Both fighters discussed the possibility of a rematch when the bell rang ended the proceedings, with Paul insisting he would activate his clause to fight Fury again.
However, other celebrities now want to get in on the action as Fury weighs up future fights that would see him climb the world rankings or try to make more money against other social media stars.

Fellow YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI laughed at both fighters after their match, labeling Fury and Paul as ‘trash’ as he chuckled at the camera.
His video reactions followed an earlier tweet which saw KSI claim he would ‘destroy’ both fighters if they attempted a duel with him next.
The empathetic celebrations after Fury raised his arm in the air drew similarities to the victory antics of Tommy’s older brother and world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Some viewers were angered by Fury’s reaction, who was understandably emotional after claiming a status-enhancing victory over Paul, which finally settled their ongoing feud.
Sportscaster Andy Goldstein tweeted that Fury’s theatrics were ‘sad’, writing, ‘I live in a sports world where professional boxer Tommy Fury celebrates like he won the heavyweight title after defeating a YouTuber. That sad.’
Some responses told him to take it easy on Fury, while others agreed that his celebrations were over the top.

Some social media users have suggested that Fury (still) went overboard in his post-fight celebrations.

Another user explained that Fury’s reaction was a ‘relief’ from the pressure he had been under, fighting for his career and the future of his last name, explaining: ‘He had all that pressure on his shoulders going into that fight and he delivered well Tommy’s Fury.
Most of the immediate social media reactions were aimed at angering Paul following the YouTuber’s controversial comments leading up to the fight that saw him insult and mock his opponent and members of Fury’s team.
One commentator hopes Paul has learned his lesson, writing, “Just like Tommy Fury said, ‘Being delusional will get you killed.’ And that’s exactly what happened to Jake here. He spoke like an absolute clown and paid the price for underestimating him.’
However, a Paul supporter highlighted the YouTuber’s rise through the professional ranks, noting that the loss made him a ‘legitimate’ boxer, posting: ‘Although Jake Paul lost to Tommy Fury, he is now a legitimate boxer. He did 8 rounds with a pro and held on.
