Manchester United defender Phil Jones praised midfielder Casemiro – with the Englishman believing the team ‘feeds’ on the Brazilian international.
The Brazilian has been a revelation for the club since joining the Red Devils in the summer from Real Madrid, with a series of commanding and emotional performances.
Casemiro was ever-present at the heart of United’s midfield throughout the season and remains a huge influence on the team.
Despite picking up a red card in United’s recent match against Crystal Palace – Casemiro returns to United’s squad against Newcastle United for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley, starting alongside fellow Brazilian Fred in midfield .

With United benefiting from the Brazilian’s return to the team, Jones believes everyone in the team feeds off the way he plays.
Ahead of the Carabao Cup final between the Red Devils and Newcastle, Jones gave his thoughts on how instrumental the Brazilian has been since his arrival.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: ‘It’s the way he prepares these attacks. It has a calming effect on guys. In the field, you can see that everyone feeds on it.
‘He is very contagious and the way he leads and plays football, you know it. Everyone sees it and feeds on it.
‘You can see the success they have when he’s on the team.’
With Casemiro proving to be a huge asset to the team, United fans will be hoping he can maintain his good form for the remainder of the season – with Jones believing the team have succeeded with him in the starting XI.
The Englishman also gave an update on his current situation regarding his physical condition.
The 31-year-old has not played for the Red Devils since May 2022 – when he played in a 3-0 win over Brentford.
Jones is in the final year of his contract – but the club have the option to extend his contract by a further year.

Despite the dismal injury record of recent times, the defender has revealed that he is doing everything to get back on the pitch – with United helping the player in his recovery.
‘I am fine. It’s been a long road. There’s no hiding from it. Sometimes physically and mentally,’ Jones said.
‘I’m a strong character and I love playing football. I’m doing everything to get back on the field. When you have all the problems and injuries, you know, it’s hard to deal with.
‘The club has been absolutely fantastic. I think I had good support from family and friends around me. The club that has been especially fantastic to me. I’m grateful for that and I want to get back outside.
