carmenthe new movie starring Normal peoplein Paulo Mescal and Shout outin Melissa Barrera, released her first steamy trailer.
The film, directed by Benjamin Millepied, is based on Frank Wildhorn’s 2008 musical and Georges Bizet’s opera, both adapted from Prosper Mérimée’s 1845 novel.
The sultry teaser trailer showcases the film’s theatrical qualities, with dance numbers at the center of the clip. The film is set to have a limited release in the US on April 21st, while there is still no news of a UK release date.

Mescal joined the project in 2020, replacing 50 tones stars Jamie Dornan in the role of Aidan. Following the announcement, director Millepied said of Mescal and his co-stars, “I feel very lucky to have extraordinary actors like Melissa, Paul and Rossy (de Palma) with me in this film.
“Melissa is so smart and intuitive, both as an actress and as a mover. I know she will bring depths to Carmen that I couldn’t even imagine. Paul is so nuanced and thoughtful in his work. I am thrilled that the two of them are bringing this romance to life. “
Mescal, who recently received an Oscar nomination for her work on After Sunbecame famous for his role as Connell Waldron on the BBC Normal peoplewith the actor being acclaimed for his work.

Barrera will soon reprise his role as Sam Carpenter in the upcoming Scream VIwhich is set to be released in the UK on March 8th. The film follows the events of last year’s re-release, with the action moving from Woodsboro to New York City.
One person who won’t be back, however, is Neve Campbell, with the Sidney Prescott actress unhappy with the offer made to her: “As a woman, I’ve had to work really hard in my career to establish my worth, especially when it comes to Shout out,” she said. “I felt that the offer that was presented to me did not match the value it brought to the franchise. It was a very difficult decision to move forward.”
carmen is scheduled to be released in the US on April 21, while a UK release date has yet to be announced. Scream VI will be released in UK cinemas on March 8 and in US cinemas two days later.
