‘It’s another LeBron mystery injury’: Skip Bayless questions the LA Lakers star’s status after the NBA’s leading scorer continued with the problem… as Shannon Sharpe responds by asking if he’s ‘calling James a LIAR’ in a heated exchange
Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless was skeptical of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James’ injury as he demanded co-host Shannon Sharpe reveal all the details.
It was announced on Monday that James had suffered a foot injury and would miss ‘significant time’ as a result.
On the latest episode of Skip & Shannon: Undisputed, Bayless called the circumstances of James’ absence “another mystery LeBron injury.”
He then demanded that his co-host Shannon Sharpe – a friend of LeBron’s – tell the audience on the show exactly what the injury was. Sharpe took offense at Bayless’s insinuation, berating him and pointing out that he doesn’t believe the same things about other superstar athletes.
‘Why when LeBron James – or somebody said there’s something wrong with LeBron James, you said it’s not that serious or he’s lying; but you never questioned when Tom Brady said something?’ asked Sharpe. ‘Tom Brady had off-season surgery ‘he had’, how do you know? Did you have the surgery?

Bayless then asked Sharpe if he was accusing Brady of lying, to which Sharpe replied: ‘If you’re calling LeBron James a liar about his injury, I’m absolutely calling Tom Brady a liar about his.’
Bayless then shared more reasons why he is skeptical. “What exactly is his wound, Mister Sharpe?” Bayless snapped. ‘You’re close, you’re in the inner circle.’
“I need to know what the wound is.” They won’t even say what the injury is. It’s another mystery LeBron injury.
When asked again by Sharpe if he thought LeBron was lying, Bayless replied: ‘I don’t know, I don’t know anything. Why don’t you tell us what the wound is?
Bayless followed up his speech on the show with a series of tweets on Tuesday night – around the time the Lakers took on the Memphis Grizzlies.
Once again, as James sat at the end of the Lakers dugout wearing a cleat, Bayless questioned the validity of LeBron’s injury again.
He began by saying, ‘The mystery grows: For weeks neither the Lakers nor LeBron have said what was wrong with his LEFT foot.
‘Ankle? Foot sprain? Toe? Now we are left in the dark about his RIGHT foot, which was somehow injured in a routine move to the basket. If he “heard something pop,” what popped?
“Towards the end of the first quarter, LeBron walked (limping?) to the Lakers dugout in Memphis wearing some type of protective boot,” continued Bayless.
Bayless continued to share his thoughts on James’ absence during a Twitter rant on Tuesday.
‘What he did in Dallas, playing the entire 4th with that foot, scoring 11 more points, was nothing short of miraculous.
Minutes later, Bayless added: ‘Did LeBron get an MRI like he was reported to do? Did he get 2nd/3rd foot specialist opinions as reported?
‘No idea. He is still with the team in Memphis, although the latest is that the team will wait 2 weeks to assess his progress.
Later, Bayless tweeted: ‘Wait, now Shams is reporting that LeBron’s RIGHT foot – the one now in the medical boot – has been bothering him since January and that he played with TI???
‘What about the LEFT foot that kept him out of the 3 games before the All-Star break??? I’m so confused.’
