Longtime English football star Kieran Gibbs has mutually terminated his contract with Major League Soccer side Inter Miami, while it has also been announced that he will take on a new role in the club’s Apple TV coverage.

Gibbs will host ‘The Inter Miami Show’ and other key content in the Inter Miami Club Room which is available on Apple TV, as well as taking on a play-by-play commentator role and joining current Apple TV talent Chris Wittyngham.

The announcement didn’t mention a word about Gibbs’ official retirement, but it looks like transitioning into a TV role will mark the end of Gibbs’ 33-year-old career.

Gibbs initially joined Inter Miami midway through the 2021 season after making over 300 appearances combined during his time playing in England.

He is best known for his time at Arsenal, where he made 229 appearances in all competitions.

While playing for the Gunners, he won the FA Cup on three consecutive occasions – lifting the trophy at the end of the 2013/2014, 2014/2015 and 2016/2017 seasons.

After leaving Arsenal he made 100 appearances in total for West Brom and also spent a season on loan at Norwich during his time in England.

Gibbs also made 10 senior England caps during his career.

He never appeared in the starting line-up week-to-week after moving to Miami, who used to play locals Noah Allen and Christopher McVey at halfback last year.

They also signed veteran Argentine left-back Franco Negri to add depth to the position.

As of now, Gibbs is still listed as an active member of the Inter Miami roster on the team’s official website.
