Nancy Osborne made a big career decision before her hollyoaks exit.
Viewers soon bid a temporary farewell to Nancy as actress Jessica Fox takes time out of Chester to go on maternity leave.
This week, Nancy struggled with Charlie Dean’s admission that he and Leah Barnes were responsible for the ecstasy accidentally used to spike Vicky’s drinking.
On Tuesday’s first episode (Feb. 28), Nancy stumbled upon a life-changing career offer after the governor of Hollyoaks High removed Sally St Clair as head teacher.

With the McQueens holding a protest at the school, the governor asked Nancy if she would be interested in taking over the school’s top job.
Nancy was initially skeptical about whether she could handle the job, as she was already struggling to keep ahead of Charlie’s problems at home. She confided in Yazz about how much the stress of work was already taking its toll on her, with parental complaints and paperwork leaving her with no time to take Oscar to the doctor.
“It’s good that you’re keeping it real,” Yazz told her. “Sally always made it look so easy.”
As doubts continued to weigh on Nancy, she actually got some surprising words of support from Sally who had a change of heart in dealing with the McQueens’ protest.
Sally stepped in to break up the protest, telling the family and students: “It’s really touching that so many of you want me to stay, although I suspect that some of you are here because you want to skip some classes.

“The truth is, I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of this wonderful place for seven and a half years. I’m so grateful for everything you’ve given me, all of you. I’ll be watching with pride each and every one of you accomplish all that I know you can do. .”
Later, Sally was shocked to learn that Nancy was turning down the position as she didn’t want to take the job.
“You should (get it) because God knows who they’ll bring if you don’t,” Sally pointed out.
When Nancy admitted that the job can be very overwhelming, Sally assured her that she fully supported her for the job: “Nancy, you are the very essence of what a director should be.”
Nancy eventually agreed to take the job, but with the character heading for an emotional outing soon, there could be more changes at the school.
