good burger fans have always had an appetite for a sequel, and it’s finally happening.
A cult classic, the original comedy arrived in 1997 with Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell playing high schoolers Dexter and Ed, who work at the eponymous diner.
stopping by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon yesterday (March 17th), the duo proudly announced that they would be reprising their beloved characters for Good Burger 2 – set to film in May with plans to stream it on Paramount+ later in the year.

“I can’t believe it’s been just over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger!” Thompson shared in a statement (via Variety).
“To be a part of something that so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all started working on the sequel is surreal!
“I love performing with my brother Kel and I can’t wait to show fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”
Mitchell added, “Ed is one of those timeless characters who has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it’s such a beautiful blessing to still be doing that after all these years.
“It’s amazing to come back and continue the stories of Dex, Ed and Good Burger, both for the people who grew up watching and for their children.”

Originals Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert are writing again, while Brooklyn Nine-Ninein Phil Traill joins as director.
An official logline for the sequel reads: “Dexter Reed is down on his luck after another of his inventions fails. Ed welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him back his old job.
“With a new team working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to bounce back, but unfortunately puts Good Burger’s fate in jeopardy once again.”
Good Burger 2 will be available on Paramount+ by the end of 2023.
