EastEnders Star Tony Clay spoke about the new Callum Highway story. In scenes airing next week, Callum is offered a promotion to Trainee Detective Constable, but his new job gets off to a rocky start when his peers give him a nickname.
Clay, who has played Callum since 2018, spoke about his character’s development and how he fares with the added responsibility.
“There’s a lot going on for Callum, both professionally and personally. He’s promoted to Constable Trainee Detective,” he began. “He is delighted. He is very happy. He feels that his hard work is paying off.

“Like anything in EastEnders, it’s not easy. I think Callum feels like he’s going to be and whatever is thrown at him he wants to be able to keep his head down because he’s determined not to screw up the opportunity this time.
“So he wants to keep his head down to do the job properly and be the best detective he can be, but there will always be room for scandal.”
One of Callum’s first tasks involves going through Ravi’s CCTV footage, and Clay revealed that the investigation could create a rift with Jack.
